Friday the 13th: The Game is an asymmetrical multiplayer game featuring the slasher villain Jason Voorhees from the films of the same name. The gameplay style is 1v7 multiplayer, where one player takes on the role of Jason Voorhees as he stalks down seven camp counselors to slaughter. Meanwhile, the seven camp counselors will be tasked with trying to survive in Camp Crystal Lake, while also attempting to slay the slasher.
Originally, the game was announced as Slasher Vol 1: Summer Camp. Its original premise was that players would choose to either take on the role of six to eight teenage counselors on the site of Camp Forest Green or a stalking killer roaming through the woods. The objective as the counselors was to survive the night, while the killer's objective is to commit bloody murder against the counselors. The focus of the game was on multiplayer, and the "map" for Camp Forest Green is set up in an arena style.
Slasher Vol 1: Summer Camp was announced in October 2014. Kane Hodder, the original actor of Jason Voorhees, was announced as being involved with the project in February 2015. The rebranding of Slasher Vol 1 to Friday the 13th: The game was announced in October 2015.
The game will utilize Unreal Engine 4 for its development.

On October 12th, 2015, Gun Media announced that they would be rebranding Slasher Vol 1: Summer Camp to become Friday the 13th: The Game, an officially-licensed adaptation of the film franchise starring Jason Voorhees. The game would still retain its asymmetrical multiplayer mode, where one player takes on the role of Voorhees and seven others take on the roles of teenage campers being chased down by him.
Alongside the announcement, a Kickstarter funding campaign was launched, looking to raise $700,000 to make the game. Stretch goals include a single player campaign and the return of Tommy Jarvis (the main protagonist from three of the Friday the 13th movies).
Kane Hodder, the actor best known for portraying Jason Voorhees, will be returning to perform motion capture for the character in the game. Alongside him, Sean S. Cunningham (director of the first Friday the 13th) will serve as a consultant on the game, and horror legend Tom Savini will serve as executive producer as well as designing the kills that Jason will perform in the game.Read Less
